News flash! At the last minute we have found a nearby event! This weekend, Friday, June 8 through Sunday, June 10, we will be merchanting at the S.C.A.'s Barren Sands War in Daretown, NJ. Check out our Event Page for more details. Remember, S.C.A. events are very inexpensive to attend (i.e., they're cheap!), so come down and visit us as we camp out in the wilds of South Jersey! Well, as wild as a boyscout camp gets, anyway... Kirsten |

Neither rain, nor scheduling conflicts, nor gloom of night, shall keep this merchant from her appointed rounds! Well, for the second year in a row, we went to the West Windsor Renaissance Faire (or, as our friend Ken Ruh so aptly put it, the "Wet Windsor Rain Faire"). Last year, we had what the park ranger called the "Mercer County Monsoon", with golf ball-sized hail, and winds sufficient to uproot staked down tents, combined with blisteringly hot days (I had heatstroke). This year, we merely had a drenching rainstorm on Friday night, and again on Saturday night, along with a reasonably pleasant temperature on Saturday, and a lovely (if windy) day on Sunday. As usual, I saw a number of people I knew from other events, and met a lot of nice new friends. The complication this year was that, by bad scheduling, I was scheduled to be an attendant at a wedding on the same Saturday afternoon as the Faire! And my husband was on pager duty this weekend, which meant that for most of Saturday, after initial setup, Heather had to man two 10'x10' pavilions filled with merchandise single-handedly! (Thank you, Heather!) Despite being two for two on monsoon season overlapping with the Faire, everyone always has a good time, and it's just too friendly to pass up. I'll see everyone there again next year. I'll probably be the one selling rain ponchos and extra tent stakes. :) Kirsten (a.k.a. Fabric Dragon) |
