Merry Yule to all!
(And may I take this opportunity to wish my friends a Happy Chanukah, a Merry Christmas, or the winter celebration of your choice!)
We had a wonderful time at a recent SCA event, The Bhakail Yule Revel. I cannot possibly explain how much work the kitchen staff and all the volunteers went to to insure a memorable feast.
I also cannot adequately convey how much food there was!
Normally I cannot eat much at a feast, between what I choose not to eat, and what I can't eat because of allergies, so I was pleasantly surprised that so much attention had been paid to managing food for everyone, while retaining a period flavor.
As long as you were ovo-lacto, or lacto and wiling to pick egg out of your salad, I think you could have eaten more than half of the offerings presented (and no, they didn't skimp on the meat, either).
Anyway, we have a bit of a break coming up until January... until then I am taking spinning classes.
Blessings,
Kirsten
I am going to use the rest of this space for links, writings, and musings that you may find of interest or use at this time.
My basic list of ways you can help on the home front. Probably old news to most of you by now, so feel free to email me with suggestions.
Aiding and Comforting the Wounded and the Warriors
Some suggestions for what you can do and make to help the victims, rescuers, and our service people. I have included some "Dos and Don'ts" for quilts.
My ideas, and not mine alone apparently, on how to defuse a lot of problems in Afghanistan for our military forces. Feel free to print this out, add your signature, and mail it to the press, government, or whomever.
Craft Patterns (Coming soon)
Some very basic craft patterns, for things you can make to help comfort a child or an adult.
